No One Sun - All We Rely On Is Stolen
Quality debut album from these North West indie boys.A powerhouse performance full of awesome manc flavoured guitar pop.Full album on soundcloud complete with lyrics to all tracks is a great touch. The songwriting partnership of Hewson/Noone is a match made in heaven, musically superb & great lyrics.Opener "California" is a great start,a pacy guitar heavy belter, full of nice harmonies & top vocals. The sun shining through my window as it plays seems rather fitting.Next up "Keeping Me",classy vocal & jangly Chili Peppers like guitar, nice! All the songs have an emotional feel to them, which alongside the heavy guitar sound and tight ryhthms makes for wonderful listening.these tracks sound just as good live as i found out when i was lucky enough to catch them at "Night & Day Cafe".Back to the album then.Next up is the absolutely superb "I dont know what to say to you",a heartfelt, pain ridden song with a smoky soaring vocal.guaranteed to give you goose bumps while making you sing along at the top of your voice.a future classic i have no doubt.the kind of song that demands to be heard by a much wider audience.top stuff!!Other highlights include track 5 "The Moment",cool, lazy drum beat, sparkling guitar sounds in a slowed down track full of more emotive vocals.the track picks up partway through with some hard driving guitar and ends with a very nice touch with a bit of harp i think.Title track next, fast indie rocker with shades of early Oasis, bounds along with a great energy.Indie anthems abound throughout with soaring vocals, superb guitars & an infectious sound."Seatbelt Burns" is another top track, vocals outstanding again with more a great sweeping musical score soaring along.Track 9 "Corbys" is a bit of a puzzle, sounds like Blink 182 have gatecrashed the party.an american pop punk, grungy, style, good all the same but unlike anything else on the album."Two ships" & "You've changed your mind again" are really good indie belters that showcase the playing abilities of the band fantastically."To which i wont dance" is a little cracker.a full on sweaty mosher of a track which reminds me a little of fellow indie favourites Puppet Rebellion, which is no bad thing. The album closes with "Home",and what a way to finish.subtle guitar, gentle drums & a beautiful vocal once again.a song of love & hope.Powerful chorus, amazing lyrics, top top song.all in all a really impressive album & i think it deserves to be heard.Top album.check it out.mad ferret
