Cross Wires - Assembly E.P..
This e.p. is musical ecstasy.so good you have to play it again & again & again.sounds like it it was forged in the good old days of punk & new wave from the late 70's.echoes of Buzzcocks & The Clash with the lyrical poignancy of Elvis Costello.it really is rather fucking splendid.track 1 'Strangers Bed' starts with a rolling drum beat, jinking guitar and a wicked vocal then the chorus with the Buzzcocks smash of guitar followed by more Buzzcocks influences with the vocal harmonies.it really is all rather beautiful and needs to be heard.really crashes along for just under three minutes.an instant favourite.an instant classic.kind of song that should be on vinyl and in your collection.yes,I do like this track!!!track 2 'Acid Bath' another coming in just shy of three minutes starts off with a chunky bass riff machine gun drumming and a moody despairing vocal.speeds along nicely while all the time asking 'what's the point of all of this'.proper punky feel to this track.3 is 'I want to be your man (again)' skanking guitar with more of that heavy bass chugging through.once more vocals are excellent,a bit reminiscent of The Hives at times.good harmonies once more all of it held in check by the power house drumming.last one up is the longest track on the ep 'White Dress' it rolls along at a nice pace with all the band members playing superbly again but that doesn't begin to this song justice.the singing is passionate and heartbreaking at the same time.sounds like love lost, sad & moving with a gentle end.really nice! This is a cracker of an e.p. I hope I can hear more from these boys and hopefully get to see them play live.please get on bandcamp and play this to death.new music never sounded so good.madferret
