The Phantoms - This is how it should be
I was delighted to be sent this five track cd from these very talented indie/alt rockers from Scotland.this is indeed how it should be.starts off very good and just keeps on getting better.opens up with a belter in 'we're coming for you'.awesome intro banging drum beat then the guitars power in all heavy riffs and attitude.then we get a vocal that sounds like Ian Curtis and a wonderful chorus with its ooh oohs and smashing guitar riffs.opens up even more with some mean lead guitar breaks.this is a top top track heavy fast and frenzied, but with some delicious licks and breaks sneaking in just to add some more substance.fucking wonderful!! Next up is 'Step Down' great fast paced rocker.all jangly guitars, banging drum beat and a powerful vocal.short but very sweet.third track is probably my favourite 'I don't care' begins with some understated riffage before the guitars smash in.slower pace beautiful bass playing and the vocals just float above it all sounding superb.instrumental breaks just add to the overall power of this track.would sound superb live, kind of track you hear at a festival and stays in your head and heart for a long time.play this one very loud!!'Undiscovered secrets' comes next.piercing guitar starts us off followed by a rolling drum beat.once more top vocal sounds, solid rythym and a top chorus sound.proper little dancer this one.will have you jumping around.lastly 'Dust'.mean & moody riffs to start, very punky.sublime lead again.chunky bass peaking through in places.another great chorus.pretty sure this one goes down a storm when it's played live.a big big sound this one.so there you have it.if you didn't know before you do now.The Phantoms are fucking class and I can't wait to hear some more and hopefully catch a show.cheers boys.madferret
